The WiFi Shield gives your OpenMV Cam the ability to connect to the internet. It features an ATWINC1500 FCC Certified WiFi module which can transmit data at up to 48 Mbps making it perfect for streaming video. Your OpenMV Cam's firmware has built-in support for controlling the WiFi Shield using the network module.
The WiFi Shield is great for turning your OpenMV Cam into a Web Cam. With the WiFi Shield you'll be able to stream JPEG compressed images to connecting Web Browsers like FireFox. Once the WiFi Shield is connected to the internet you'll be able to send and receive data over TCP/UDP ports using MicroPython's BSD socket low-level network interface.
